I made this today for Aaron's Piano Playtime teacher, Miss Sara, who announced yesterday as I picked him up that next week would be her last class and that she will be introducing a new teacher to take over. Aaron has thoroughly enjoyed each class and he frequently plays his "songs" on our piano. She has been such an inspiration to our fourth generation (at least) piano player.
I scraplifted the top half of this from my friend Jeanne, who included a thank you card in my last order from her before she quit Close to My Heart.
My original plan was to use some of the Silhouette papers to make the piano keys, but the patterns interfered with the small design. It would probably work on a larger scale, but not on a card. So Silhouette dictated the colors, even though they didn't get used in the final production.

This one took me a few days, but I finished it this afternoon. I thought repeating the stamps in each box would look cool, and then I wanted to color them in with a blending pen, and that's what took so long! As is says above, this is the title page for my 2006 scrapbook, which has been finished for some time except for this page. I had to wait until I could get the Solos numbers and Ticket to All Seasons stamp sets to do it, as I had this idea running around in my head for a quite a while. The biggest challenge was getting things stuck down straight, because the reverse side has funky things like large brads and a chipboard element on it (it's the "Aaron Can Sleep About Anywhere" page).

This first one doesn't have a title, as I couldn't think of one. My friend, Jeanne, took these at her daughter's birthday party last October. The top picture is cropped down quite a bit to just focus on Julia, and Jessica, the birthday girl, is in the background, and Aaron's striped shirt is on the left side. The bottom right picture is Jules eating her lunch while lounging on an ottoman!
The second page I would have titled "A Black-and-White Halloween" had I left myself room. I did a mirror image of the first layout (the curved borders of which I saw somewhere once, but I don't remember where, and the rest is my idea) and stamping on black cardstock is not ideal if you want it to be bold and I didn't feel like trying to cut out cardstock letters. Then again, I just bought a Cuttlebug and a few alphabets, all of which should arrive tomorrow, so I might just add some titles to these. I'll guess you'll have to check back to see if I did.
Back to Halloween: Aaron chose to wear his penguin suit again this year and Julia, after being shown a few cute costumes at K-Mart, pointed at the rack and said, "Cat." I pulled it out, looked at the tag and told her it was a skunk. "Skunk," she repeated. So that was her choice. Lucky for me, I don't smell skunks! She insisted on dragging it through the store and parking lot to the car, so I had to wash the head well before she wore it. (I'm thinking I need to add some journaling somewhere as this is a cute story I had forgotten until now. I guess that means a picture will need to flip up to reveal it.)
