Happy Tails

This is my first try at getting a picture of the scrapbook page. Julia crawled in at the last minute to take a look!

After shooing her out of the way, I got a picture in which one can actually see the page. It is a companion page to "Doggoned Tired."

I used more of CTMH's Serendipity paper, this time opting for a piece with a background color of Outdoor Denim. I used scrap pieces of the Bamboo and Dutch Blue stitched paper to accent the second curve in the papers (instead of the first) but in reverse order. The flowers follow a similar embellishment pattern to the first ones, but there are a few variations.

The picture used on the page was taken on the same day and in the same place as "Doggoned Tired." Julia, in her first days of potty training, sits on Tucker's back with her recent birthday present of a doll, which she calls her "baby."

St. Patty's Day Birthday Card

This is a card I sent out today to a college friend who is turning 40 on St. Patrick's Day. Back then it was fun, both of us having a birthday on a holiday (mine in November, however). He lives in Wisconsin now, although he spent most of his childhood in Phoenix (talk about a climate change). If we're lucky, we get to see him when a business convention takes place in Denver, which it does just about every year. So Happy Birthday, Dave!

This was inspired by Kathi Carlson using the emerging color technique of Tresa Black. Not too shabby for a first attempt.

More Purple Butterflies

Those of you who have read from the beginning will know that Julia's baby album has a theme of purple and lavender butterflies. So whenever I see anything with lavender butterflies, whether it's the shirt that Julia's wearing (in the photos and today, too) or scrapbook paper, it almost always ends up in my shopping cart.

These two are the other pages I completed at a crop last week, with the exception of the journaling box which I did today on the computer. It reads, or will as soon as I replace it (yes, I goofed and didn't realize it until I went to take a picture of the second page):
Getting Julia to sit still for a formal picture is nearly impossible, as this sequence demonstrates. As soon as I frame a shot, she shifts to one side or the other. When I do get her in the frame, I can’t focus the camera because she’s rocking back and forth. When I finally get a frame and focused, she’s lost interest and a leg comes up to block her face. I get her to hold a stuffed cat and some other toys. It works, and at the far right is the final selection. [This is a two-page spread, so the bottom right photo of the bottom page is the one to which I'm referring.]

Vellum is sprayed with Krylon's Preserve It! to protect the ink from being smeared (smelly but worth it!)

Font: Worstveld Sling Extra found on the internet (frame created by my word processing software)

Blue and Pink

These two pages I worked on at a crop last week. I didn't get very far with the blue page, other than deciding what pictures I wanted on it. (The two photos on the right are Julia and Aaron playing with the electronic toys they got for their birthdays. Julia has a V-Tech laptop and Aaron has a Leap Frog Leapster.) Nothing was coming to me, so I moved on to the pink page. I had much better luck with it and finished it and two more. Yesterday, I came back to the blue page and finished it.

The pink page's top and bottom border paper (which has the manufacturer listed on the back because it's not on the piece that's left) has glitter on it. Maybe you can see it if you click on the picture to get a enlarged version. The top left picture is Julia and Aaron craning their necks to watch the TV behind them, snuggling under Julia's birthday cat blanket. Top right is Julia enjoying leftover birthday cake. Bottom left is Julia playing with the Backyardigans (a favorite preschool TV show) and bottom right is a discovery I made when I walked into Julia's room one day: she had lined up some stuffed animals on her windowsill.

New Pictures for a Previous Post

I added some titles and a journaling box to "Two Pages." I used my new Cuttlebug to die cut the letters, after running a piece of cardstock through my Xyron machine. (For those of you unfamiliar with these, Xyron turns paper into a sticker, which one can peel off the waxed-paper backing. Cuttlebug is a die cut machine. The dies are a strip of metal or plastic with blades in a particular shape, in this case an entire alphabet, set in foam. The machine squeezes the die, compressing the foam to expose the blades which cut the paper.)
